Halberton then and now

Over the centuries the weather may have taken its toll on the tower of St Andrew’s Church Halberton and a clock added (the present clock was installed in 1861) but essentially it is the same tower that people gazed up at when it was constructed about seven hundred years ago. The photograph on the left was taken about one hundred years ago; the one on the right in 2016.

Our Group Archivist, Joy Wooding, has collected many old photographs of Halberton and has taken her own photographs of the scenes depicted so that we can compare “then and now”. She has kindly agreed to let us display some of the images from her fascinating collection.
